Our philosophy

Community can mean many things but it is always at the heart of what we do, whether that’s supporting individuals to grow, bringing different groups together or by talking about shared experiences.

We work to ensure that all stakeholders and community groups are given a voice and empowered. We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion through our values policies and practice.

Our aims

We aim to make communities realise their own power. We believe that when a community is put at the heart of their own development amazing things can happen. We engage with communities by learning and listening, while bringing our own knowledge and experience to make a positive difference.

We want to effect constructive change and believe we have to take everyone with us to do that. That way we can embed sustainable practices which communities are able to maintain and build on after a project is completed.

Our way of working

We use a range of frameworks, models and tools to support good practice, includingparticipatory appraisal, participative consultation, and established planning and evaluation methods.

We work with stakeholders to develop evaluation frameworks using a participatory theory of change approach and undertake external evaluations to feed into learning.

Our team

WSA Community works in partnership with colleagues to build effective teams for each project. You can see a list of our associates here.
